Parents are suing a church school for falsely accusing their children of racism over a photograph of them with painted faces. Reported by the Daily Mail.
This is a shot taken in 2017, but the consequences of the shooting became known only now. The photo shows three 14-year-olds with dark green face paint.
In 2020, the California High School of St. Francis in Mountain View discovered the mentioned frame and demanded that students voluntarily drop out of school for insulting blacks - "blackface" (blackface - a cartoon image of blacks - approx. "Lenta.ru").
The parents of the accused filed a libel lawsuit against the school in the Santa Clara County Supreme Court and demanded damages in the amount of $ 20 million (1.4 billion rubles). The statement claims that one of the boys suffered from acne and acne cream was applied to the faces of the children.
“This lawsuit is an attempt to protect our honor and reputation, and also to clarify what really happened. This innocent photograph has been taken out of context. Its meaning was distorted in the midst of nationwide social unrest over the death of George Floyd,”they explained.
Despite the fact that the students themselves tried to explain to the management of the educational institution that their photograph does not carry any offensive connotation, the school principal Katie Teekell called their parents and said that their children are no longer welcome guests at the school. She added that the reason is not in the true motives of the boys, but in how their actions appear from the outside.
The incident negatively affected the reputation of the boys' families, and they were forced to move to another area. At first, Tickell promised not to report the incident to other schools in the district, but later she changed her mind and said that she would only tell her colleagues the truth.
In December 2020, Russian models accused of racism spoke about threats to foreigners. Krasnodar fashion models Alena Melnikova and Anastasia Semyonovyh posted on Instagram a photo in clothes from the collaboration of the singer Beyoncé's brand Ivy Park with Adidas. At the same time, self-tanning was applied to the girl's skin, one of them braided her hair into African braids, and the other made lush curls.
