Changes are made to two articles of the code - 5.10 and 5.12, which stipulate responsibility for campaigning outside the period established by law, in the wrong places, as well as in violation of the rules for the production and distribution of materials.
For example, now the maximum fines for placing printed campaigns in places where it is prohibited by law are: for citizens in the amount of 500 to one thousand rubles; for officials - from 1,500 to 2,000 rubles; for legal entities - from 20 to 30 thousand rubles.
The law approved on March 3 for committing offenses under both articles sets the penalties accordingly: for citizens in the amount of 5 thousand to 20 thousand rubles, for officials - from 30 thousand to 50 thousand rubles, for legal entities - from 100 thousand to 500 thousand rubles …
According to Oleg Tsepkin, a member of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Building, the current fines do not stop violators and disorient voters, while an increase in amounts will increase discipline and culture of behavior of all participants in the electoral process.
