The possibility of reorganizing the obstetric service appeared in connection with the opening of a new perinatal center in Novosibirsk. One of the steps to centralize and improve the efficiency of obstetric care was the joining of maternity hospital 2 to the new center.

The meeting was devoted to the issues of improving the efficiency of obstetric care in the region, which was attended by the Minister of Health Konstantin Khalzov, the chief physician of the Regional Hospital Anatoly Yudanov, the chief obstetrician-gynecologist of the Novosibirsk region Rem Volkov and the staff of the maternity hospital 2.
At the meeting, Anatoly Yudanov turned to the staff of the 2nd maternity hospital with a proposal to move to work in a new perinatal center, which will receive the first patients on February 1.
Let us remind you that maternity hospital 2 is located in a building built in 1938 - this oldest building cannot meet the standards for providing medical care in the field of obstetrics and gynecology.
“I am sure that your close-knit professional team will be able, taking into account the opportunities provided by the new equipment and new technologies of the perinatal center, to do even more for the obstetric service in our region,” the chief obstetrician-gynecologist addressed the staff of the maternity hospital.
Konstantin Khalzov noted that in the past few years there was no shortage of beds in Novosibirsk maternity hospitals. Even with the pandemic and re-profiling in 2020, maternity hospitals were less than 90% busy. The perinatal center, which opens on February 1, is designed for 6,000 births a year, its capacity with a margin will be enough to meet the needs for obstetric care.
The building of maternity hospital 2, the press service of the region reports, will remain in the structure of the state healthcare system of the region - it will house a polyclinic department.
