TASS, February 24. Video hosting YouTube has developed a controlled account system for teens that will allow their parents to filter video content, manage their browsing history, and adjust functions in their child's account. This was announced on Wednesday in the official blog of the video hosting.
The project was developed over the past year with parents as well as experts from around the world in areas related to child safety and digital literacy.
“In the coming months, we will be launching a beta for parents that will allow their children to access YouTube through a controlled Google account. This account will be able to adjust content and features. In addition to choosing content settings, parents will be able to manage browsing and search history in settings your child's account, "said YouTube.
The service offers parents to choose one of three content settings: videos for children from 9 years old, videos for teenagers from 13 years old, as well as the "Almost all YouTube" option, which includes most of the videos, except for videos for viewers over 18 years old. In addition, the video hosting company plans to gradually add new parental controls, such as blocking any videos.
YouTube will not serve personalized ads or classified ads on a controlled account. It will also not be possible to make in-app purchases, leave comments and publish videos, but the video hosting service plans to add these features over time.
