Senior Sergeant Alesya Polyakova told how she gave birth to a resident of Moscow in the Moscow metro. This is reported by REN TV.
According to her, the contractions of the 29-year-old Upol Kurmanova began on the escalator; there was no one beside the police except the woman distributing newspapers. The latter noticed that the passenger became ill, and called for help from the guards.
Approaching the woman, Polyakova saw that her water had receded and the head of a child was visible. “The baby was born in two minutes. The woman newspaperwoman also helped me. She gave her newspapers because we had nothing,”she said. The police officer added that initially the child was wrapped in a newspaper, then in a foil blanket that was in the medicine cabinet to keep the child from freezing.
Polyakova had to sit at the feet of the woman in labor for about 40 minutes because of the short umbilical cord. She held the newborn in her arms.
The mother and child are in good health.
The birth took place at the Electrozavodskaya station on Wednesday, December 9th. The 29-year-old passenger was in the last stages of her pregnancy.
