In response to rising unemployment, the authorities have significantly increased benefits for families with children, President Vladimir Putin said at an annual major press conference.
“Due to the fact that unemployment has grown, the authorities have significantly increased benefits. The most difficult situation is for families with children,”the head of state said.
According to the president, there are support programs for different age groups. In particular, “if each family member has incomes less than two subsistence minimum (LM) per person, such families are entitled to 1 LM for each child from 0 to 1.5 years. From 1.5 to three years - the same, but from maternity capital funds. From three to seven years - 0.5 PM for each child."
Also, the amount of support for families with children may increase from January 1, 2021 to one living wage per child, if families do not reach one living wage per person.
Recall that during the President's Address to the Federal Assembly in early 2020, Putin announced new measures to support Russian families. The total amount of maternity capital is now about 616 thousand rubles, families have the opportunity to receive part of the maternity capital after the birth of their first child - 466 thousand rubles, and if the family already has a child, then at the birth of the second - all 616 thousand rubles at once.
Since 2019, Russia has a law on the compensation of mortgage loans to large families: at the birth of a third and subsequent child, the state undertakes to pay part of the debt in the amount of 450 thousand rubles. The state paid increased attention to families with children during the coronavirus pandemic. The President announced three-month payments to all families in the amount of 5 thousand rubles for children under 3 years old, twice a one-time allowance of 10 thousand rubles was received by all families with children aged 3 to 16 years. In addition, measures to support parents who find themselves temporarily unemployed have been expanded.
Putin also announced the early launch of a program of payments to low-income families for children from 3 to 7 years old. The parents began to receive a monthly allowance in the amount of about 5.5 thousand rubles from June 1. Also, the monthly allowance for caring for a child up to 1.5 years has been doubled to 6.7 thousand rubles.
