A smooth, fairly thick trunk without cracks, flexible branches, elastic needles of rich emerald color that hold tightly to the branches, as well as one crown are the main signs of a high-quality natural Christmas tree. Rospotrebnadzor told about this to the agency "Moscow".
The supervisory authority advised Russians to buy a New Year tree in the last decade of December, since the tree bought earlier will crumble before the end of the holidays. “Hit the tree trunk on the ground, or lightly shake the tree - if the needles are crumbling heavily, this is a bad sign. Rub a few needles in your palms - you should feel the characteristic smell of needles. Dry, yellowed, crumbling needles and lack of aroma are signs of a tree that has long been felled,”the experts noted.
When choosing an artificial tree, you need to make sure that the branches are securely fastened, and the needles are firmly held on the branches. “Pull the needles lightly, they should not come off. Swipe the branch with your palm against the growth of the needles, squeeze the branch in your palms, while the high-quality needles will quickly take on their original shape and will not crumble,”the citizens were advised. Also, the ends of the branches should not have sharp edges and bare wire.
According to experts, a short-term presence of a mild plastic odor is permissible. However, a pungent chemical smell indicates the use of materials that do not meet the standards. At the same time, artificial spruce must be made of fire-resistant materials or treated with special compounds that exclude fire.
Earlier, the Ministry of Emergency Situations told the Russians about the most suitable Christmas tree for the house. Artificial trees were considered the best option, as they are more durable, beautiful and fireproof. In addition, to ignite a Christmas tree made of polyvinyl chloride, a temperature of 500 degrees is required, and a natural tree will catch fire already at 228-264 degrees Celsius.
