The Kaliningrad authorities expect that new restrictive measures due to the spread of the coronavirus, which are being introduced in the region from December 28 to January 17, will give a respite to medicine, but will not allow the economy to suffer, Dmitry Lyskov, head of the press service of the regional government, told RIA Novosti.
“We have two tasks, the main one is preserving the life and health of our citizens, the second one is related to the health of our economy. Therefore, by extending the New Year holidays with these restrictions, we want to give a respite to our medicine for as long as possible so that the economy does not suffer much. try to interrupt the cycle of infections. We hope that this should slightly reduce the rate of spread of the infection. And we proceed from the fact that on New Year's holidays, and so little works, "- said Lyskov.
According to the decision of the headquarters, from December 28 to January 17 in the region, it is planned to close all shopping centers and stores, except for food, pharmacies and pet supplies, to restrict the work of fitness centers, indoor sports facilities, cinemas, theaters, museums, houses of culture, SPA centers, hairdressers, beauty salons, baths and saunas. Banks, MFC and other office enterprises will continue to work only with legal entities. Street fairs and mass sports and street events are canceled. The ban on corporate events will continue to operate.
From December 28 to January 17, vacations are announced at schools in the region, while additional education is completely closed, sports sections (with the exception of training of athletes who are part of the Russian national team), colleges and universities conduct a winter session in a remote form. Kindergartens from 28 to 31 December and from 11 to 17 January will continue to work with a 50 percent load.
As the head of the press service noted, all decisions of the headquarters will be fixed and specified in the resolution in the near future. During the week, the headquarters will also make decisions on the mode of operation of public catering. Now bars, cafes and restaurants are open with a landing of no more than 50% from 6 to 23 hours.
