Wearing medical masks for children under the age of two can be dangerous as they can lead to suffocation. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the warning of the Japanese Association of Pediatricians.

Experts explain that children have narrow airways, masks can make it difficult for them to breathe, and this will lead to suffocation.
In addition, babies can face stress on the heart and get heatstroke in hot weather.
"The fever does not leave the mask, and there is a high risk of heatstroke. Also, children often vomit, which in turn can cause pneumonia and suffocation," said the head of the association Akira Kamikawa.
Medical masks for children are sold in Japan. Usually, their packaging indicates that they can be worn from the age of three. Some manufacturers sometimes write in the recommendations for the use of masks "for children over two years old."
