
MOSCOW, October 7 - RIA Novosti. Ombudsman for human rights in the Russian Federation Tatyana Moskalkova expressed hope for an amnesty for convicted Russians in the United States by the elected president, the press service of the Ombudsman reports.
"In the United States, the counting of votes continues after the last presidential elections. This fateful event always gives hope for changes in all segments of public and political life, including, first of all, in the human rights sphere. I hope that the elected President of the United States will exercise his right of amnesty in attitude of convicted Russians. It would be not only an act of humanism in relation to these people, but also a manifestation of mercy to their families - parents, wives, children. It would be a sign of good hope for the priority of humanity and kindness, "- said Moskalkova, who is quoted as saying press service.
The Ombudsman added that she is in constant dialogue with the American authorities on the fate of Russian citizens who have served or are still serving sentences under the sentence of American courts: Maria Butina, Konstantin Yaroshenko, Viktor Bout, Bogdana Osipova and others.
