MOSCOW, February 26. / TASS /. Chairman of the State Duma Viacheslav Volodin called the law banning the disembarkation of free riders under 16 from public transport the most important of those adopted by the lower house in February. The speaker's words on Friday are quoted on the Duma website.
"An important law prohibiting leaving free-riders under 16 years old from public transport," Volodin said. "At the federal level, it is now clearly defined: the requirement that a passenger who has not paid for travel is obliged to get off at the nearest stop will not apply to children under 16. years who travel unaccompanied by adults ".
The speaker emphasized that "it is unacceptable to leave a child alone on the road because of unpaid travel alone," as "this poses a threat to his life and health."
Volodin also noted the Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs "for working on bills on leave for large families and on increasing pensions for parents of children with disabilities from childhood."
Russian President Vladimir Putin previously signed a law that bans passengers under 16 who have not paid their fare from public transport. The law introduces amendments to the charter of road transport and urban land electric transport. The provisions so far in force allowed persons under the age of 16 to disembark if they did not pay for their fare and were not accompanied. The signed law introduces a ban on this.
