He advised against eating wild birds.
“When traveling and visiting exotic restaurants, try not to eat raw poultry and raw eggs, because they can be sources of infection with the influenza virus,” Vikulov said.
Also, the infectious disease specialist believes that the regulatory authorities will now pay special attention to the emergence of a new strain of bird flu.
In his opinion, "serious anti-epidemic measures" and "everything necessary to localize the focus" will be taken.
Earlier, the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova said that seven workers of a poultry farm in southern Russia were diagnosed with bird flu.
According to her, the new causative agent of avian influenza (H5N8) can be transmitted from birds to humans.
Later it became known that an outbreak of bird flu occurred at a poultry farm in the Akhtubinsky district of the Astrakhan region in December 2020. Quarantine measures were carried out at the enterprise.
