The arrested ex-governor of the Khabarovsk Territory Sergei Furgal, who is being held in the Lefortovo pre-trial detention center, was found to have pathological lesions in the lung as a result of CT examination, said Eva Merkacheva, a member of the Public Monitoring Commission (POC) and journalist of Moskovsky Komsomolets.

A darkening in Furgal's lungs was first discovered before his arrest. Doctors recommended that a second examination be done by the end of August, but the investigator only recently allowed the ex-governor to be taken out for a CT scan, without allowing a comprehensive study to be carried out, since there is "no reason" for this.

"How can a person who does not even have a basic medical education know which procedure is shown to me and which is not? For some reason, all medical procedures are coordinated with him," Furgal told the POC members. At the same time, the law does not oblige the doctors of the pre-trial detention center to coordinate their decisions on diagnosis and treatment.

Even with the permission of the investigator, Furgal was not immediately able to get a CT scan. For a long time, the management of the pre-trial detention center selected a medical facility together with the health department, as a result, on November 18, Furgal was sent to hospital N20, where the arrested are usually taken.

"Civilian doctors said that it is necessary to observe and exclude the possibility of infection with COVID-19," the former governor said, noting that his brother had died of the coronavirus. The lawyers intend to apply to the court with a petition to change the preventive measure for Furgalu for health reasons.

Meanwhile, the relatives of other Lefortovo prisoners believe that the administration is hiding the situation with the coronavirus. According to the POC, the former head of the Moscow department of the IC, Alexander Drymanov, and his cellmate, deputy general director of Aeroflot, Vladimir Alexandrov, were taken to the Matrosskaya Tishina hospital with suspicion of COVID-19. So far, nothing is known about their well-being.

For the 134th day in Khabarovsk, actions in support of Sergei Furgal continue. According to Sibir. Realii's estimates, about 300 people took to the streets on Saturday. Despite warnings from the police, they held a rally in front of the building of the regional government and a traditional procession. According to the protesters, the number of Interior Ministry officers was comparable to the number of protesters.

One person was detained: a young man was dropped off the bus, charged with assaulting a police officer on November 14 during the detention of another person at a rally, DVhab.ru reports.
