A record-breaking group of illegal immigrants - 376 people at once - made their way from Mexico to the United States through a tunnel under the wall separating the two countries. The incident took place on January 14, however, representatives of the US customs and border services reported it only on Friday.

The migrants dug a half-meter wide passage under a metal wall and entered the territory of a neighboring state near the city of Yuma (Arizona). After that, all the violators surrendered to the border guards. It is noted that there were 179 children among 376 people, writes TASS.
According to US border guards, migrants with children are increasingly seeking to cross the border illegally. Most of them, once in the United States, surrender to the authorities in the hope of obtaining asylum in the country.
Meanwhile, in the spring of 2018, the US Department of Justice announced a policy of "zero tolerance" for violators of immigration laws, including those who illegally cross the border with children. As a rule, detained parents are taken into custody and prosecuted, and their children are sent to special centers.
According to RIA Novosti, several thousand people from caravans of migrants who arrived from Central American countries have accumulated on the border with the United States in Mexico. According to various estimates, in the region of Tijuana and Mexicali there may be from six to nine thousand migrants from Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador. The US authorities have deployed several thousand troops to the border to ensure security.
