Oleg Shein, a member of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs, supported the proposal of the Federal Agency for Tourism (Rosturizm) to change the rule for checking in a hotel for children traveling without parents: with the written consent of the parents, not certified by a notary. He reported this to the Moscow City News Agency.

“I think that Rosturizm is right in proposing, because no one in the Russian Federation fulfills these requirements (notarized consent - note by the Moscow Agency). It never occurs to anyone to go to a notary and draw up an appropriate document. Moreover, I am sure that there are no such requirements in Europe either. In fact, this (written parental consent - a comment of the Moscow Agency) is already there, but we need to bring bureaucratic papers in line with life, if it does not create any threats. Obviously, this does not create any threats,”Shein said.
Earlier, the media reported that Rosturizm considers it possible to accommodate children traveling without parents at a hotel by simple written consent of the parents, not certified by a notary. At the moment, this requires only a notarized consent. President of the Russian Hotel Association Gennady Lamshin clarified that this requirement was originally introduced to ensure the safety of children.
