Suburban children's camps and sanatoriums by the end of the summer season were under the threat of ruin, and next year their number may decrease by two-thirds. State Duma deputy Svetlana Bessarab stated this.
Only 25% of children's boarding houses received government support as representatives of the industry affected by the coronavirus. The key factor that damaged the businesses was the restriction on the workload of the camps.
“We have only 2.3 thousand out-of-town children's stationary camps in our country, less than half of them have opened this year. And as a result of the pandemic, we may lose another two-thirds of the remaining. The situation is very serious,”Bessarab said in an interview with the Izvestia newspaper.
To remedy this situation, the State Duma deputies turned to the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Education, the Federal Tourism Agency and the Ministry of Finance with a proposal to introduce an addition to the All-Russian Classifier of Economic Activities (OKVED).
If the deputies succeed in registering children's sanatoriums in the OKVED in a separate column, then the camps will have the opportunity to receive the necessary financial support.
In turn, the chairman of the Russian Youth Union Pavel Krasnorutsky noted that if the state at the federal level does not pay attention to the situation with children's summer recovery, then there is a risk of losing the industry.
