The winter sports festival took place today at the Lokomotiv stadium. The ski race brought together Vologda residents of different ages and professions. The ZSO deputy Denis Dolzhenko also took part in the race.
Registration of participants began in the morning. The first start was given at 9.30. For Vologda residents, distances of 5 and 10 km were prepared, as well as special races for 2021 m. In the intervals between races, Vologda residents could take pictures with the cup, which was won by the marathon skier Nikolai Kolesov in 1981.
Before the start of the main race for 2021 m, the opening ceremony of the event and awarding of winners at distances of 5 and 10 km was held. Also, Vologda residents who passed the TRP standards were awarded commemorative badges. The athletes received awards from the hands of the Deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the Vologda Region Denis Dolzhenko and the Deputy Mayor of Vologda for Social Issues Vadim Tsepa.
“The starts today take place in the morning. Today, one of the largest sports winter holidays is held here, which unites both athletes and simply active Vologda residents. This event is very important for promoting a healthy lifestyle and for everyone who loves physical education and sports. Good mood to everyone, skiers - a quick start and an easy race,”said Vadim Tsepa, Deputy Mayor of Vologda for Social Issues.
“As a person actively supporting sports, I could not stand aside and attend this sports festival. About a thousand people gathered at the Lokomotiv stadium today. Vologda residents came here not only to test their strength and compete for medals, but also to have a good time outdoors with their families. Despite the frost, quite a lot of people gathered,”said Denis Dolzhenko, deputy of the Vologda Oblast Legislative Assembly.
After the awarding ceremony, Denis Dolzhenko joined the runners at a distance in 2021 m. Both professional athletes and ordinary Vologda residents who live according to the principle "Sport is the norm of life" took part in the start.
“I'm running the distance for the second time. For the first time he took part in the ski race in 2017 as part of the TRP standards. Today also decided to join, have a good time. Skiing is a hobby for me, I do it for myself, I try to keep fit,”said Maxim Tcherezov from Vologda.
Together with the residents of Vologda, representatives of the city administration also took part in the race.
“Any sport is great. Many sporting events and competitions are held in Vologda. I have been running on the Ski Track of Russia for the third year in a row. I was engaged in skiing at school and at the university, so for me to go back to skiing is a common thing. I invite all Vologda residents to participate in sports events in the future,”said Dmitry Zhyobakas, head of the Department of Physical Culture and Mass Sports of Vologda.
Several dozen skiers took off with a shot of the starting pistol in the final race in 2021 m. The first athletes finished 4 minutes later.
“I feel good after the race. I have been preparing for the event for a whole year, I think this is a good test for everyone, a test of strength and endurance. Before that, I participated in city and regional competitions, went on distances of 10 and 15 km,”said skier Ivan Livinsky.
We add that today in Lukyanovo, in the Monastery Garden, more than 50 veterans involved in Scandinavian walking have also joined the sports festival.
Recall that in 2020 the All-Russian mass race "Ski Track of Russia" brought together 4 thousand Vologda residents. Then one of the features of the sporting event was the participation of paratroopers from the 98th Guards Airborne Svirskaya Red Banner Order of Kutuzov, II degree division.
