At the end of 2020, the country will host a number of mass events on the subject of road safety, to which students and employees of educational organizations are invited to participate. This is an Internet Olympiad for schoolchildren on the knowledge of traffic rules, as well as the all-Russian contests "Safe road for children" and "The best teacher for teaching the basics of safe behavior on the road." This was announced today at a press conference, which was held in an online format on the Internet platform of the TASS news agency. Taking into account the sanitary and epidemiological situation, all events will be held in a remote format. In addition, as the participants of the press conference said, this year for the first time the traditional and annual All-Russian competition for young traffic inspectors "Safe Wheel" will also be held online. Vladimir Kuzin, Deputy Head of the Russian State Traffic Inspectorate, in his speech emphasized the importance of continuous work to develop children's skills for safe participation in road traffic - this activity should continue constantly, despite all the difficulties. He cited the indicators of accidents involving minors: “According to the results of 10 months of 2020, 14,236 road accidents involving children under the age of 16 were registered, 435 children died and 15,601 children were injured. But it should be noted right away that measures have been taken to prevent child road traffic injuries, and they have reduced these numbers. The number of road accidents - by 16.2%, the number of deaths by 9.9% and the number of injured children by 16.1%,”noted Vladimir Kuzin. The deputy head of the Russian State Traffic Inspectorate also added that within the framework of the federal project "Road Safety" of the national project "Safe and High-Quality Roads", many more information and educational events are planned, including remote ones, which can increase the level of road safety and reduce accidents with participation of children. In 2020, organizers and participants of road safety outreach projects had to face a new and unusual distance format for the first time. “This year we faced difficult challenges: during the period of restrictive measures, to involve children, families, teachers in the activities to study the basics of safe behavior on the roads,” said Deputy Minister of Education of Russia Denis Gribov. - I think we have coped with this task. For the first time, we are holding contests that unite children from all over the country who are interested in the topic of road safety in a non-standard and still unusual for us remote format. But, I believe, each of those present here will agree that, overcoming difficulties, we at the same time open up new horizons. " Yulia Kostyryachenko, Deputy Director of the Department of State Policy in the Field of Protection of Children's Rights of the Ministry of Education of Russia, added that the All-Russian competition for young traffic inspectors "Safe Wheel" has always been held in full-time format. The event brought together about 350 participants annually - winners of qualifying tests from all regions of the country. But this year the event will be held in a remote format, and the children will not have to come to the finals from their regions. At the same time, she expressed the hope that this would not prevent the children from feeling the atmosphere of the competition. In turn, Alexander Kholodov, Deputy Chairman of the Commission for Security and Interaction with the POC of the Public Chamber of Russia, also emphasized the importance of carrying out such projects, which help not only to form responsibility among the younger generation, but also to influence adults through children - parents, and even grandparents. … According to the expert, enthusiastic young people are actively promoting road safety not only among their peers, but also among relatives of different ages. He added that despite the pandemic, it was decided not to cancel the event, and this is the right step. “This will help to continue to form the correct principles and views among the younger generation, albeit in new realities and in an unusual format,” said Alexander Kholodov. The participants of the press conference also informed that the All-Russian competition for young traffic inspectors "Safe Wheel" will be held in two stages: the theoretical part will be organized by the regions on December 10, the practical part will take place on December 14, and the names of the winners will be announced on December 15. The All-Russian Internet Olympiad will be held from December 4 to 12, the “Safe Road for Children” competition will be held from December 7 to 12, and the “Best Teacher” competition will be held from December 2 to 15.
