State Duma deputies from the LDPR faction proposed giving "sick leave" to parents of schoolchildren under 14 who were transferred to distance learning or unscheduled vacations due to the coronavirus pandemic. The corresponding bill has been developed and sent to the government. This was announced on his Telegram channel by the head of the Duma Committee on Labor and Social Policy Yaroslav Nilov.

The initiative involves the introduction of an appropriate amendment to the Federal Law "On Compulsory Social Insurance in Case of Temporary Disability and in Connection with Maternity" and to provide insured people in such cases with temporary disability benefits. It must be paid to one parent or legal representative for the entire period of unscheduled additional holidays or remote education of the child.

The authors of the bill explained that many parents are forced to independently solve the problem of caring for their children and monitoring them during the holidays, but they do not always manage to agree with the employer on additional leave.

Earlier in early October, it was reported that the Ministry of Education of Russia is not currently considering the issue of the massive transfer of schools to remote locations. Deputy Minister of Education Denis Gribov expressed hope that the situation with coronavirus in the country as a whole will change in a positive direction. He added that the epidemic situation is different in each Russian region.
