The Safety Laboratory Center for the prevention of road traffic injuries among children has been opened in the Moscow Region. The initiators of the project are the Russian Union of Auto Insurers, the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Transport of Russia and the Expert Center “Movement without Danger”. A specially developed educational program is aimed at developing responsible behavior on the road and reducing the number of accidents involving children and adolescents. Theoretical, practical and game lessons are conducted for children aged 5 years, parents and teachers. Traffic rules training was organized on the basis of the Innovation Center. The leading experts of the country in the field of road safety, medicine, psychology and pedagogy took part in the development of the methodology. Classes are held on the basis of mobile car sites (auto towns) with the brand name "Safety Laboratory". Specialized bright yellow buses will collect children for safety lessons on the road. The equipment of the bus allows you to simulate real traffic situations and present material in a fun and accessible format. “Raising responsible road users who know and follow the rules of behavior on the road is an important task. To solve it, a comprehensive educational work with the younger generation is required. As part of the implementation of an all-Russian program aimed at reducing the number of road accidents involving children and adolescents, special centers called the "Safety Laboratory" are opening throughout the country. It is important that this project is being implemented in the Moscow region, where, due to the congestion of roads and high population density, a rather tense situation has developed in this regard. We expect that thanks to the training within the framework of the project, children and adolescents will be able to better understand the rules of the road. This will contribute to the formation of a culture of safe behavior in the transport environment, and in the long term will help to reduce the number of accidents and reduce the incidence of child injuries,”commented Svetlana Gusyatnikova, Director of Retail Business of the Moscow Region, Ingosstrakh. It should be noted that thanks to such educational programs, the decrease in the total infant mortality rate for the period from 2009 to 2019 was 39%, the mortality of pedestrian and cyclist children - 58% each, child drivers of motor vehicles - 33%, child passengers - 20%. … According to the official statistics of accidents, in January - June 2020, compared to the same period in 2019, the number of children killed in road accidents decreased by 20.3%.
