TASS, May 15. Magadan investigators on Wednesday detained a 65-year-old man suspected of murdering a child, the press service of the Investigative Department of the RF IC for the Magadan Region told reporters.
The girl disappeared on Sunday afternoon from the playground located next to her house. Investigators opened a criminal case. Several hundred people took part in the search for the child; a helicopter was used.
"On May 15, officers of the investigation department for the city of Magadan of the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Magadan Region identified and detained a suspect in the murder of a four-year-old girl who went missing in the village of Snezhny in the city of Magadan on May 12," the press service said.
According to the investigation, a resident of the village of Snezhny committed the murder of a young girl in a rented apartment. The motives for the murder are established, the necessary investigative actions are taken to establish all the circumstances of the crime and the collection of evidence. Experts have been appointed to determine the cause of the child's death.
The suspect will soon be charged accordingly.
