Tatiana Sergeeva, traumatologist-orthopedist of the Doctor Plus Medical Center, held a conversation on the prevention of child injuries and practical exercises for teachers and students of the Ural State Pedagogical University. Thus, the center and the university became participants in the joint project of the weekly "Arguments and Facts" and the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation "Healthy nation".

The health of children is the responsibility of adults, and the most effective prevention of child injuries is the vigilant attention of teachers, parents to ensuring the safety of children, to educating the younger generation of a serious attitude to the rules of safe behavior, to an adequate assessment of the risks to health and life during games, sports, at home. Tatiana SERGEEVA, a traumatologist-orthopedist at the "Doctor Plus" MC, repeatedly reminded about this at a meeting with teachers and students of the Ural State Pedagogical University.

Tatyana Mikhailovna, a traumatologist with many years of experience, told the audience about the most common types of injuries among children and the reasons for them. According to the doctor, special attention of teachers should be focused on the child during physical education lessons, training in sports clubs, as well as during breaks, during which "Brownian movement" occurs in the school corridors and trauma to students is not uncommon. Parents, on the other hand, should remain especially vigilant during the holidays, when children, rejoicing in the "Cossack freeman", forget about safety. This is especially true during the upcoming winter holidays, during which children are injured while riding down slides, and burns when using pyrotechnics. However, young researchers at home should not be overlooked either.

“The hottest time in the trauma center of our center is evening. Parents return from work, bring their children and … start going about their business. The kids are on their own. They are very active today! As a result - wounds, dislocations, fractures,”said Tatiana Sergeeva.

“It is better to avoid injuring children, but if this happens, you, as teachers, should be able to provide the victim with first aid,” said Tatyana Sergeeva. And she held practical classes for teachers and students of the Ural State Pedagogical University. Note that at the university students are taught to provide first aid, in addition, the university has its own Rescue Squad, so the practical lessons aroused the keenest interest in the audience. The guys and their mentors literally flooded Dr. Sergeeva with questions regarding the intricacies of first aid: "How to put a child with a spinal injury in anticipation of the arrival of an ambulance?", "What symptoms" give out "a head injury?", "What to do if the child choked? "Is it necessary to fix a limb in case of a fracture?" etc.

The participants of the Healthy Nation project noted the importance of such events. “Today, there are different methods of first aid, and in order to determine their choice, you need to meet with practicing doctors as often as possible,” said Alexandra PAVLOVA, teacher of the Department of Health and Safety of the Faculty of Physical Culture, Sports and Safety.

How important and as often as possible to focus the attention of teachers and parents on the problem of child injuries. According to the WHO, more than a million children die annually in the world due to unintentional injuries (accidents). More than three million childhood injuries are registered annually in medical institutions in Russia. And according to the Ministry of Health of the Sverdlovsk Region, last year 87 cases of injuries and trauma were registered in the region per thousand children under 14 years old, and 151 cases per thousand children aged 15-17 years. In other words, in 2016, at least one in seven teenagers suffered an injury of varying severity.
