A new children's book by British writer J. K. Rowling called Ikabog has appeared in stores around the world. Rowling has posted chapters from this book on a separate website dedicated to the book since the beginning of the pandemic. In Russia, the book was published by the Azbuka-Atticus publishing house. “Ikabog” is a “political fairy tale for children,” which tells the story of the happy country of Cornucopia and the swamp monster Ikabog, who disrupted the idyll of a prosperous kingdom. Rowling recommends a fairy tale to children from 8 years old. The book contains 280 pages and many illustrations drawn by young artists from all over the world. 34 illustrations were selected from more than 18 thousand works that participated in the competition for children from 7 to 12 years old. The artists received their copies of Ikabog, autographed by the writer, as a gift. Rowling invented the tale of Ikabog a long time ago and often read it to her younger children before going to bed. When it came time to publish the book, Joanne changed her mind and decided to write a book for adults. Perhaps it was The Accidental Vacancy, a novel that raises the topic of politics. In the spring of 2020, Rowling began posting free chapters from Ikabog on her website to support children trapped in their homes due to coronavirus restrictions, and gradually came to the conclusion that the story should be sent to print.
