SIMFEROPOL, February 20 - RIA Novosti Crimea. In Novorossiysk, investigators of the Investigative Committee are investigating the circumstances of the mass hospitalization of Crimean athletes. This was reported by the press service of the Investigative Department of the RF IC for the Krasnodar Territory.

According to the department, on February 12, 2021, 46 children aged 15 to 17 and 11 accompanying adults arrived in Novorossiysk from the Republic of Crimea to hold sports camps. The group stayed in one of the boarding houses in the village of Shirokaya Balka. On February 18, some children and adults felt unwell and turned to the paramedic who arrived with them, and later to the city infectious diseases hospital. Currently, 13 children and one adult are receiving the necessary treatment there, the investigators said.

"At the direction of the acting head of the Investigation Department of the TFR in the Territory, Andrey Maslov, the Investigation Department in the city of Novorossiysk TFR in the Territory immediately organized a pre-investigation check on this fact," the department said.

Investigators interviewed the group members, management and staff of the boarding house, together with Rospotrebnadzor specialists in the food unit, seized a number of products for research.

"Washed off surfaces, samples (including food and water) for compliance with sanitary standards, they assigned appropriate studies. Other verification measures are being taken to establish all the circumstances of the incident," the UK said.

The audit will be made a procedural decision.
