Deputy Speaker of the State Duma Irina Yarovaya has submitted to the lower house of parliament a bill allowing the blocking without trial of groups in social networks that promote violence. This was reported by the TASS news agency.
The bill is aimed at protecting children from the so-called Columbine communities, as well as identifying criminals involving minors in their activities and preventing threats to the safety of children's lives. If the law is passed, then law enforcement officers will have the authority to block such groups on social networks, without having to go to court and wait for its decision.
Yarovaya noted: “Practice has shown that it is necessary to fill the gap in the sectoral legislation that already provides for a procedure for prompt response to the dissemination of information on methods of committing suicide, as well as calls for suicide, including in this list information aimed at involving a child in committing unlawful acts, posing a danger to his life. " She clarified that we are talking about Columbine communities and games like "Run or Die", "Fairy of Fire" and so on.
The name of the Columbine communities comes from the American high school "Columbine" (Columbine High School). In 1999, she was shot, recognized as one of the largest massacres in US educational institutions.
