More than 4 thousand children were born in the city clinical hospital (GKB) named after V.I. Veresaev of the Moscow Healthcare Department under the in vitro fertilization (IVF) program. This was reported by the press service of the Moscow Department of Health.
"Department of In Vitro Fertilization of the Hospital. V. Veresaev is 10 years old. During the work of the IVF department, about 4 thousand children have already been born, almost 100 of them are twins and about 10 are triplets,”the message says.
As the chief physician of the GKB named after Veresaeva Igor Parfenov, the clinic has its own embryological laboratory, equipped with equipment that meets the most modern requirements. “In 2009, in the maternity hospital of the 17th hospital named after Veresaev opened an in vitro fertilization department. Thanks to this, many women who had problems conceiving a child have a chance to experience the joy of motherhood. On the basis of the department, a full examination of a married couple is carried out, consultation and treatment if necessary,”I. Parfenov said.
The press service added that at present in Moscow, almost any couple with a diagnosis of infertility and in the absence of contraindications to the procedure can undergo IVF under compulsory medical insurance. “The selection of a medical organization is carried out in the commission for the selection of patients for infertility treatment by IVF method online. A complete list of medical organizations where residents of the capital can undergo in vitro fertilization for free is given on the website of the Moscow Department of Health,”the press service explained.
Earlier, the National News Service news agency reported that more than 1.7 thousand children were born in the Moscow region in 2018 thanks to the IVF procedure.
