The governor of the region, Andrei Vorobyov, has repeatedly stated that the authorities should take care of the socially unprotected segments of the population. At the beginning of the month, he ordered the introduction of a new benefit for pensioners near Moscow. Earlier, he and Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin agreed to provide pensioners with free travel on commuter trains. This social support measure will take effect from August.
