MOSCOW, April 20 - RIA Novosti. The proposal of the Ministry of Transport to ban the transportation of children in strollers in the metro is discriminatory, one should think about how to facilitate movement with small children in the metro, and not follow the path of prohibitions, says Honored Artist of Russia, head of the Commission of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation for the support of families, mothers and children Diana Gurtskaya.
The Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation has developed a draft of uniform rules for using the metro in the Russian Federation. The project, in particular, involves a ban on the transportation of children in strollers on the metro. Now passengers are prohibited from transporting children in strollers only on escalators. Anna Kuznetsova, Commissioner for the Rights of the Child under the President of the Russian Federation, said that she would appeal to the Ministry of Transport with a request to clarify the bill banning the transportation of children in strollers in the metro, as she believes that these measures are redundant and may pose a threat.
"There are situations when the only way to get with a small child to their destination is the metro. And there are also special cases when a child can only be in a stroller. Of course, a passenger with a stroller in the carriage takes up much more space, but a ban is a direct route. to segregation and violation of the fundamental rights of parents with babies, "- said Gurtskaya RIA Novosti.
"This norm cannot be adopted, since it discriminates against thousands of Russians. And the ministry should better think about how to facilitate movement with wheelchairs in the subway, for example, designing elevators and other devices, and not follow the methods of ridiculous prohibitions," Gurtskaya added.
Earlier it was reported that the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, after public discussions, may amend the document prohibiting the transportation of children in strollers in the metro.
