A resident of Khabarovsk was forced to go to Moscow with her son, who needed a difficult operation. To provide the necessary services, she turned to a clinic in the capital, where she faced an egregious situation: the doctor who saved her child began asking about 300,000 rubles from her mother, despite the fact that the procedure was free.

As the Khabarovsk woman said, for a year already, a criminal case was opened against the doctor from Moscow over bribes, but he still provides "free" services to families. The woman decided to share her story with the public in order to draw attention to what was happening.

So, according to the Russian woman, the situation with her happened back in 2013, when her son developed tracheal stenosis after a fire. The child was poisoned by carbon monoxide and needed urgent help. Under medical insurance, the boy was entitled to a free operation. A local physician of the capital's clinic, occupying the place of a pediatric surgeon, performed tracheoplasty of the larynx, and after rescuing the minor called the woman into the office.

- In private, the doctor began to explain to me that the operation was difficult, that he had done an ingenious job, and said that I had to pay him 2000 dollars for it. He wrote the amount on a piece of paper, which he soon removed, - said a resident of Khabarovsk, reports Lifedd.ru.

2,000 dollars is about 65 thousand rubles (at the exchange rate of the Central Bank for June 2013). The woman managed to raise funds only thanks to volunteers and friends, since such money is not found in the family: she has two children and a blind mother in her arms. At the same time, she tried to refuse the surgeon, but he persuaded her to pay, urging "not to be poor," but to think about the children.

Then, three years later, there was a relapse and the child was operated on by the same doctor.

However, as the Khabarovsk woman admitted, everything that happened was "the calm before the storm." She had to return to the Moscow clinic in 2019 as well. The doctor told her that the tubes to the airway would no longer help the child and that a circular resection of the trachea should be done.

- The professor said that such an operation in Israel costs eight million rubles, but he gives me a chance and will do everything for five thousand dollars (more than 330 thousand rubles at the rate of 2019 - ed.), - said the woman.

After refusing to pay, the doctor discharged the boy from the hospital, insulted his mother and kicked them both out. The head physician of the clinic refused to help with the issue.

A resident of Khabarovsk said that she managed to get to another, "bona fide" hospital. After that, she wrote an application for a physician demanding payment for free services. As a result, in March 2020, the man fell under a criminal case. However, according to the author of the story, the surgeon is still in office and asks for money from families whose children are sometimes on the verge of life and death.
