Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko opposed the adoption of children by same-sex couples.
"The right of same-sex families to adopt children, in my opinion, it will simply lead to the degeneration of humanity," said the speaker at the All-Russian youth educational forum "Territory of Meanings" in Solnechnogorsk, Moscow Region.
Matvienko also spoke out categorically about replacing the names "mother" and "father" with "parent 1" and "parent 2" in some countries.
“In the legislation of some states, instead of the words“mom”and“dad”, new concepts have been introduced:“parent number one”and“parent number two”. Can you imagine that instead of the first word "mother", the baby will say - "parent number one"? " - she said and added that today "the foundations of happiness" such as family, children and parents are "eroded" and "eroded".
By the way, in 2014, the government banned the adoption of orphans from Russia by citizens of countries where same-sex marriage is allowed.
