IT specialists from Russia appreciated the security of school chats. They stated that open groups are a conducive environment for cybercriminals.
Russian IT specialists conducted a study, the results of which showed that more than a quarter of school chats and communities are vulnerable to fraudsters. According to their calculations, 28% of groups created by parents and students to solve learning problems attract the attention of scammers.
The thing is, according to experts, participants in such chats often exchange photographs of documents. Open communities and groups mean full access to information by outsiders. IT specialists warned that using student data, fraudsters can get to information about parents, such as their payment details, which could subsequently become the threat of losing money.
Experts recommended closing school chats and securing them with the help of moderation and control of participants and publication of data, Izvestia reports.
