According to the respondents, they should be managed by doctors.
Most Russians support the introduction of sex education lessons in schools. This was reported by 75% of respondents in the course of the survey conducted by the telemedicine service "Doctor Nearby" and the medical community "Find your doctor". 66% said that such lessons should be taught by visiting doctors, and 37% believe that such issues should be raised by school psychologists. At the same time, every seventh (15%) respondent believes that parents should be engaged in sex education, and every ninth (11%) believes that this should be the responsibility of teachers.
By sexuality education, the survey authors meant a course that touches on several topics. Studying the basics of male and female health; your body, an explanation of the options for the normal development of the reproductive organs; risks of unprotected sex. Formation, upholding and adherence to personal boundaries, explaining the principle of consent and explaining in what cases and to whom you can turn for medical or psychological help.
The survey showed that 45% of respondents in adolescence and early adulthood faced one or more unpleasant consequences of a lack of knowledge in the field of sexuality education. At the same time, more than half (60%) of the respondents, being adolescents, never tried to raise the topic of reproductive health and sexual life with their parents.
Most Russians said that parents should talk to their children about these topics. However, every sixth parent (17%) did not speak and is not going to talk about it with their children: every tenth parent is “psychologically difficult”, and 7% are convinced that sex education is not needed until the age of 17-18.
The Public Chamber responded to the initiative to introduce sex education in schools. Elina Zhgutova, a member of the Commission for the Support of Family, Motherhood and Childhood, said that neither school nor parents should engage in this "debauchery".
It would be strange to assume that a person who has not been taught the basics of sex in school will not be able to have offspring. We have experience of several millennia. I think that nature will tell you. Parents don't have to say anything directly. If they laugh at an obscene anecdote or demonstrate vulgarity themselves, it corrupts the child. If they turn away, make a remark, or characterize what they see on the screen with a facial expression, the child gets the right impression of what chastity is,
- said Zhgutova in a conversation with the publication "Rise".
She noted that she does not believe in the results of the survey and considers them overstated.
