"Children's letters and drawings will be handed over to Russian soldiers liberating the Syrian Republic from international terrorism," she said, speaking at a ceremonial rally at the Rosgvardia training center in Kaluga.

The All-Russian Festival of Children's Essays "Letter to a Soldier" has been held on the eve of Victory Day under the auspices of the Commissioner for Children's Rights since 2017. In 2018, the festival is being held jointly with the All-Russian military-patriotic public movement Yunarmiya. Festival participants write an essay in the form of a letter to soldiers of any historical era about their homeland, values, military conflicts, peace, and what worries children in the modern history of Russia. In 2018, the festival received over 4 thousand letters.

During the rally, a ceremony of admitting pupils of the Azarovsky orphanage and schoolchildren of the Kaluga region into the youth army took place, to whom the children's ombudsman addressed with a welcoming speech. “Today you don't hear the whistle of bullets, howling of serenas, grenade explosions, but today there is also a kind of war going on for each person and ours,” she said. "Today's weapons have a different caliber and other striking elements. This is hypocrisy, this is what makes us weak, corrupts," said Anna Kuznetsova.

Kuznetsova wished the children to remain faithful to the cause they had chosen "I really want your children to be proud of you just as we are proud of those who won that great war," said the children's ombudsman, recalling the upcoming celebration of Victory Day.

"The memory of this war. It is every day, it is literally in the blood of each of us," - said Kuznetsova.
