In 2021, a new Transfusion Center will open at the Morozov Children's City Clinical Hospital, thanks to which it will be possible to procure small doses of blood components for children and newborns, as well as individual selection in difficult cases. This was reported by the press service of the Moscow Department of Health.
“The new Center for Transfusiology (Blood Transfusion) will open next year. It will allow to increase the volume of blood and its components procurement more than twofold - up to 12 thousand liters per year,”the statement says.
It is noted that the center will be able to meet the needs of children's hospitals and maternity hospitals in the capital.
The press service explained that thanks to the center, it will be possible to procure small doses of blood components for children and newborns, as well as individual selection in difficult cases. If necessary, it will be possible to organize a specialized field transfusion team in any children's medical organization. The daily practice of the center's specialists will include new progressive methods of treating hematological patients, including cell technologies and stem cell transplantation.
In addition, two buildings of the hospital - for the placement of the Blood Transfusion Center and the palliative department - will be renovated at the expense of benefactors, another one - at the expense of the city budget.
“The reconstruction of the transfusion building should be completed in March 2021. This will allow us to catch up with our hematology oncology. Because in addition to the usual, routine work of the children's transfusiology center within the framework of the preparation of blood products, we plan to develop there cell technologies that will teach cells to fight cancer tumors,”the words of the chief physician of the Morozov hospital Valery Gorev are quoted in the material.
