MOSCOW, June 24. / TASS /. The Public Chamber considers it necessary to change the target of the national project "Demography" in terms of the total fertility rate - the average number of children born by one woman, from 1.7 to at least 1.95. This is stated in the report "Demography-2024" of the Public Chamber, which is at the disposal of the portal "The Future of Russia. National Projects", which is operated by TASS.
An increase in the total fertility rate to 1.7 children per woman is one of the current goals of the Demography national project.
"Zero or positive natural growth by 2024 with a fertility rate of 1.7 is not sustainable, both with and without migration.
