The chief pediatrician of Moscow, Ismail Osmanov, said that since the beginning of the pandemic, more than 2 thousand children who have contracted the coronavirus have been hospitalized in the capital, the Izvestia newspaper writes. "In total, about 2 thousand children were hospitalized in Moscow hospitals in Moscow," the doctor said. So, according to him, about 35 thousand children were infected with the coronavirus in Moscow, but only those who had the disease in an average (92.5%) or severe form (4.3%) were brought to hospitals. The pediatrician also spoke about the specifics of the course of coronavirus in minors: ARVI, gastrointestinal form, pneumonia without and with respiratory failure, as well as meningoencephalitis. He added that the coronavirus in children can often cause multisystem inflammatory syndrome - a severe damage to all body systems. "A striking characteristic of COVID-19 in children is that it affects several vital organs and, above all, the lungs and heart," Osmanov said. According to the latest data, more than 497 thousand people have been infected with the coronavirus in Moscow since the beginning of the pandemic, 7 643 patients have died.
