The Omsk Regional Court today, June 18, finished considering the appeal from the lawyers of the convicted Alina Yumasheva and Sergei Kazakov. In February, they were sentenced to a general regime colony for torturing an 8-year-old child. The boy's mother received 1.5 years in prison. She was also stripped of her parental rights. Stepfather - 4.5 years old. The defense tried to commute the sentence.

- Taking part in the upbringing of the child, I wanted him to grow up honest, smart, as befits a real man. In the course of upbringing, difficulties began to arise and I mistakenly believed that it was possible to cope without the involvement of specialists. At some point, I switched to a harsher punishment. I admit my guilt and repent of what I have done, - said Kazakov.
The panel of judges concluded that the verdict was fair and was left unchanged.
The story of the "boy on buckwheat" received a wide public response. It all happened even more than a year ago.
