The President of the Russian Cynological Federation Vladimir Golubev said that a pet, accustomed to a long stay of the owner of the house during the period of self-isolation, needs to be gradually prepared for separation due to the owner leaving the office.

According to him, a sharp change in the habitual way of life negatively affects especially those pets who have not yet had the experience of a long stay at home without an owner.
The specialist recommended initially leaving the dog alone in the room for five to ten minutes, gradually increasing this interval to two hours. During this time, the pet will get used to waiting and the separation will not cause him stress.
To adapt the dog to loneliness, a cage or spacious carrier is also suitable.
- Train your pet to stay alone in your crate: run your dog into it, leave the door open so that it can go out on its own at will. Then increase the time spent in the cage up to several hours. Make the cage or carrier a comfortable place in which the dog will feel safe, put a blanket and pet's favorite toys there, - the agency "Moscow" quotes Golubev.
Previously, dog handlers advised not to walk dogs near ponds and on ice.
