The Catholic Church, known for its conservatism and strict traditions, is increasingly trying to meet modern realities. Not so long ago, the patron saint of the Internet appeared in their host of saints (by the way, they became a teenager), and a few days ago, the Pope's statement that delicious food and sex is a "divine pleasure" was vigorously discussed on the Internet.

This time Pope Francis made a statement that is very significant for many religious people. He recently met with representatives of the Italian organization Tenddi Gionata, which was created to support and inform believers, their families and clergy who identify themselves as LGBTQ people. Among the representatives of the organization were about forty parents of LGBTQ children and adolescents.

In a conversation with parents, the Pope said: "God loves your children as they are, and the church loves your children because they are children of God." This statement became symbolic and incredibly important not only for the participants in the meeting, but also for so many representatives of the LGBTQ community, who over the years felt excluded from religion because of who they are.

According to the vice-president of the organization, Mara Grassi, their goal is "to build a bridge to the church so that the church can change its view of our children, not excluding them, but fully accepting them." To this Pope Francis replied: "The Church does not exclude them because she loves them so much."

Many netizens described this meeting as "decisive" and "revolutionary" and expressed their hope that the religious community will now become more loyal to LGBTQ people. However, some commentators have expressed doubts that meaningful changes will occur in the near future.
