Power Engineers Of The Middle Urals Put A Barrier To Children's Energy Traumatism

Power engineers of IDGC of Urals, together with the Ministry of Education of the Sverdlovsk Region, are joining efforts to prevent electrical injuries.

IDGC of Urals presented a plan of joint work with the Ministry of General and Vocational Education of the Sverdlovsk Region at a meeting with the heads of local authorities in charge of education, state educational institutions of the region.

The main emphasis in uniting the efforts of power engineers and the regional department is made on the mandatory inclusion of the topic "Electrical safety" in the curriculum on life safety for schoolchildren of all ages.

For this, a methodological manual for conducting a lesson on a relevant topic, developed by IDGC of Urals, JSC, was submitted for examination to the Ministry. After this procedure, the manuals will be recommended for use and distributed to all educational institutions of the Sverdlovsk region.

The joint project of IDGC of Urals and the regional Ministry of Education will become a pilot project in the Russian educational sphere. Ural schoolchildren will be the first to learn the rules of handling electrical appliances and behavior near power facilities as part of a compulsory program.

Consolidation of efforts will also allow drawing the attention of parents to the problem of electrical injuries in children and adolescents. It is imperative to have additional conversations with families. Vigilance and compliance with the rules of safe behavior when interacting with electricity will protect children and avoid their death.

In 2017-2018 in the Sverdlovsk region there were several accidents with minors, as a result of which children either died or received serious electrical injuries.

Often, the cause of accidents with children and adolescents is the desire to become popular on social networks and among peers. For a "spectacular" selfie, they climb onto power lines, the roofs of transformer substations. Children ignore the rules of behavior near energy facilities.

Since 2008, IDGC of Urals, JSC has been implementing a comprehensive injury prevention program “Electricity is dangerous!”. It is designed for different target audiences: children and adolescents, heads of enterprises and organizations, drivers of heavy construction equipment, gardeners, and fishing enthusiasts.

At the end of 2017, more than 4 thousand lessons were held in schools of the Perm Territory, Chelyabinsk and Sverdlovsk regions, the coverage amounted to almost 100 thousand children and adolescents. About 80 thousand leaflets and posters were distributed, more than 2.5 thousand teaching aids were given to teachers for conducting classes on the topic "Electrical safety". Through work in social networks, the company reached an audience of 50 thousand people.

Despite this systematic large-scale work on the prevention of electrical injuries to third parties, residents and children continue to neglect key safety rules. Specialists of IDGC of Urals, OJSC emphasize once again that violation of the rules of behavior near power facilities, penetration into power facilities entails a serious danger to the health and life of people, endangers the energy security and uninterrupted power supply to consumers.

A hot telephone line has been opened for residents of the Sverdlovsk Region. If you witness the penetration of power facilities or games near them, you need to intervene, stop the children from rash actions and call IDGC of Urals: 8-800-2501-220. Power engineers will promptly respond to the message.

For conversations with children and adolescents, the website of IDGC of Urals, OJSC contains all the materials necessary for this.
