Over the past day, 213 new carriers of coronavirus infection have been identified in the Novgorod region, including 93 in Veliky Novgorod. This was reported on December 8 at the regional headquarters. This is four more cases than in the previous day. 85 people were discharged per day, one patient died from COVID-19. The regime of anti-epidemic restrictions is being strengthened in the region.

Taking into account the new data, 13,492 cases of coronavirus infection were recorded in the region during the pandemic. 9601 people recovered, 92 people died. 7708 residents remain under medical supervision.

The day before, at a meeting of the regional operational headquarters to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection, the data of the regional Office of Rospotrebnadzor were announced, according to which the average daily rate of increase in the incidence in the Novgorod region is 1.5 percent.

According to the press center of the regional government, as of December 7, more than 4.5 thousand residents of the region are ill with a diagnosis of COVID-19, of which 23% are being treated in a hospital, 77% - on an outpatient basis. For the treatment of patients in infectious diseases hospitals, 1,860 beds are deployed, of which 230 are free.

Meanwhile, the number of sick teachers has increased - the percentage of sick with infectious and viral diseases among them is 13.7%. Six schools have been quarantined, including one due to the coronavirus. Pupils of 83 grades and pupils of nine groups of kindergartens were sent partly to quarantine due to influenza and SARS.

The Governor of the Novgorod Region, Andrei Nikitin, instructed the minister to clarify the rules for transferring schoolchildren and teachers to distance learning. “But only where it's really needed. It is important to maintain the usual mode of study,”said the governor.

Also, a number of measures are being introduced in the region to prevent the worsening of the situation. For example, only newlyweds and a photographer or videographer will be able to attend the registration of marriage. Customer service in retail establishments will be possible only subject to the rules of distance and a limited number of customers in the sales area - one person per four square meters.
