CHISINAU, February 18. / TASS /. President of Moldova Igor Dodon celebrated his birthday in the peasant family of Zakharia, which is raising nine children. On Sunday, the head of state came to visit them in the village of Ryshkova, Criuleni region, together with his wife Galina and three sons - Vladislav, Bogdan and Nikolai.
They brought gifts with them: TV, refrigerator, gas stove, computer, other household items, toys, school supplies, sweets and fruits for the kids. “We visited this family together, which brings up nine children aged from three to 19 under difficult conditions,” Dodon wrote on his Facebook page. He noted that, despite the difficulties experienced by the parents, "the children in the family are well-groomed and educated."
The President talked with parents and children, inquired about their plans for the future, and examined the house. "We also decided that before Easter, with the support of the Din suflet charity fund, we will buy them other housing," the head of state wrote, noting that the housing is in a deplorable state, and in winter the whole family lives in one room, heated by an improvised stove.
Other local residents also came to congratulate the head of state and told him how the village lives, about their problems.
The Charitable Foundation of the First Lady of Moldova Din suflet last year alone provided assistance to about 75 thousand people in need in Moldova, most of whom are children and the elderly, and also implemented a number of large-scale projects in education, health care, and sports.
Dodon turned 43 on Sunday.
