The accelerated development of children is of interest to many adults. Some offer to swim from birth, others want to teach you to read almost from the cradle, others call to “forget” about the benefits of civilization and send all children to communicate with nature and live in almost primitive conditions. Early development is discussed by "advanced" parents, managers of creative centers, teachers and psychologists. Why do the voices of doctors sound so weak in this polyphony and for whom it is more important to learn algebra at the age of three, we find out together with MedAboutMe.

Once again about love

The brilliant manager and author of the bestselling parenting book Masaru Ibuka believes that the environment is the most important thing for every child. It depends only on the adults who are near the baby from the first days of life whether his abilities will wake up or not. An extremely important role in this is played by the love of parents, thanks to which he develops harmoniously.

Many mothers are puzzled by the development of the baby from the very beginning. Someone shows the child the cards of Glen Doman, who develops according to the method of Maria Montessori, someone is actively working with Zaitsev's cubes. Among young mothers there are fans of the Waldorf School, the Cecile Lupan system, the Nikitin or Tyulenev methods.

Some mothers are against early development and believe that this is not necessary.

Let's start by understanding the basic needs of a child.

The most important thing that a baby should receive in early childhood is the love and care of parents. Mom's role is especially important. Children need to broadcast love with every movement and every look.

In psychoanalysis, there is the concept of "dead mother". This is the mother who is in postpartum depression or in a bad relationship with her father. She has a negative attitude and transfers her condition to the child when she swaddles, talks to him or feeds him. What does such a child see in her eyes? That he is unnecessary and unloved. He does not develop the basic trust in the world that he can receive through his mother.

If mom is okay, she lovingly swaddles, caresses the baby's body and whispers words of love and gratitude for the appearance of a little person in her life. And then the child grows up mentally healthy. He sees and understands his need, he trusts the world. As a result, his life is going much better than that of the child who saw a "dead mother" in early childhood.

Give children love, support, and protection. Do any developmental activity that brings joy to you and your baby.

If the mother does not feel within herself the inner resource, calmness and desire to develop the baby, she does it through force, the effect may be the opposite.

A child under the age of 4 is 75% formed as a person. Give him your love, show his importance, need. Then you can be calm about his future!

Unfortunately, not all children were lucky enough to bathe in parental love. Moms and dads who prefer tough methods of development and upbringing should get acquainted with the results of research by British and American scientists.

In 2010, scientists from 5 British institutions, including the University of Oxford, studied the brains of “problem” children. Their results confirm the work of Professor Bruce Perr, head of the Department of Psychiatry at Children's Hospital in Texas (USA). So, pundits, presenting photocopies of brain scans of three-year-old babies, clearly proved that the active parts of the brain of a child who is brought up in a favorable atmosphere of love and attention is three times more than that of a child growing up in conditions of "sensory deprivation." Simply put, the baby clearly lacked gentle touches, sensations and smells.Professor Perr suggested that harsh treatment and poor nutrition were added to this.

Physical punishment and abuse have similar consequences. The front part of the brain, which is responsible for empathy, is smaller in children who are often spanked. Pain adversely affects a child's ability to empathize and is a risk factor for future deviant behavior.

There is no ready-made answer to the question at what age it is worth starting to engage in education. All children are different, so an individual approach is required. It is important that parents listen to the child's opinion, do not force him to learn by force, because in this case there is a risk of discouraging any desire to acquire knowledge. Adults should celebrate what children are interested in: what books they like to read, what cartoons to watch, what games they play. Once you've figured it out, encourage their aspirations. The sooner parents notice the child's predisposition to some area of knowledge, the more productively they will be able to organize his development.

Age 8-11 is perhaps one of the most suitable for additional education. At this time, the child is already actively immersed in the educational process, so parents can see his talents and help him to reveal his potential.

At this stage, it will be right to choose a circle or section for the child. For example, if a student is carried away by the topic of science, it is worth taking him to additional classes, where he will have the opportunity to be in the role of a scientist and conduct interesting experiments under the guidance of experienced teachers. Whether the child will like the lessons depends on their organization: the child will be happy to attend lessons if they are presented in an understandable interactive form, and an individual approach is applied to the students. In this case, the child receives both pleasant emotions and useful skills, which will then be useful in further studies.

Why "know" Chinese before birth?

What do loving and caring parents want? So that the child is healthy, intelligent, successful and self-confident. To achieve this good goal, they are ready to move mountains, overcome any obstacles and master the wisdom of the latest educational methods. The desire to turn your child into a genius even before birth becomes especially strong, when active mothers read smart books about various educational systems. As soon as the first signs of pregnancy appear, "savvy" mothers begin to actively prepare for the development of their future offspring, stocking up on manuals and books. There is nothing wrong with that if parents remember the wonderful word “measure”. After reading a book written by Masaru Ibuka, an engineer and founder of Sony Corporation, that “after three years it’s too late to educate,” you should not try your best to “drive” a one-year-old toddler knowledge of higher mathematics. When parents proclaim the goal: "Physics from the cradle!" and rush to heroically achieve it, they have little interest in why a barely born baby needs it and how this knowledge will be useful to him.

In developmental psychology, there is a concept as a "leading type of activity." It is the main activity with the help of which the child develops, the main tasks of the age are solved.

Up to 1 year of age, development is facilitated by close communication with the mother. Hugs, kisses, touches during this period prevail in the child's life.

Are early development clubs needed at this stage? No, they are not needed.

From 1 to 3 years of age, active research and knowledge of the world begins. The main task of parents is to provide a field for research, to be close, to support, to build boundaries.

Are early development clubs needed? I don't think they will be of any great benefit. But stomping through puddles, collecting sticks, auditing home cabinets, playing with a cat, a dog, rattling pots will be as useful as possible.

From 3 years old to 6-7, the main activity will be a role-playing game.

It is thanks to play that thinking develops in preschool age.

Therefore, if the parents decide to take the child to early development circles, let it be a visual activity (drawing, modeling, application), construction, any play activity. No hard and fast rules.

At this stage, it is important to remember that the mere accumulation of knowledge does not automatically lead to the development of thinking. Only a role-playing game will help this.

The more the child will play, the more prepared he will be in primary school age. And the more successfully he will cope with the educational activities of the age, which will be the main one at that time.

In the books of Glen Doman (the author of the early development method from the United States) and Masaru Ibuka, it is written that teaching six-month-old children is much easier than one-year-olds, and it's all about the diligence of the mother and the continuity of classes.

These statements are so pleasing to the parental heart that the cultivation of geniuses from babies becomes an end in itself for many. Scientists have proven that the memorization process in infants is a mechanical process. They, in fact, do not care what to memorize: Marshak's poems, the laws of thermodynamics, chemical definitions. Toddlers do not yet know how to analyze and classify the information received. Little "clues" in their heads make a porridge of Chinese characters, seasoned with clever terms, which they are unable to digest.

Yes, your two-year-old wonder child can amaze others with the knowledge of the names of all American presidents. The only question is, why does he need this knowledge? In order for mom to have something to talk about during fitness classes, and to brag to grandmother with neighbors in the shop?

Probably, in parallel with reading fashionable books about the Montessori methodology or Waldorf sorcerers-educators, it is worth reading the works of the Russian child psychologist Galina Kozlovskaya, who claims that there is no need to train the intellect prematurely, because this leads to an overload of the left hemisphere at a time when nature determines the gradual brain development. As a result, we get a shattered psyche and subsequent poor development.

It makes no sense to argue with Glen Doman's thesis that the brain develops when it works.

Everything is correct, but you just need to remember that his method was created for children who were diagnosed with severe lesions of the nervous system, and the Japanese entrepreneur wrote his book not only because he was interested in the nature of youth riots. Masaru Ibuka also had a personal reason: his own child was lagging behind in development.

Pediatricians advise to approach any methods and systems of early development very thoughtfully, keeping in mind the oldest principle of medical ethics “do no harm”.

The main thing to teach a child under 3 years old is to walk, talk and not be nervous.

The topic of early development is controversial and controversial. First, you need to separate the two terms "early development" (RR) and "early learning" (RO). PP is understood as a type of activity aimed at stimulating cognitive activity in a baby. RO is aimed at mastering skills. Children aged 1 to 4 years must learn to walk, run, jump, speak. They are developing many mental functions, so the child already has something to do and switching his attention to learning to read, drawing, music, parents distract him from improving the skills that are formed only in these age periods. Why are parents trying hard during this period? Probably the bestseller by Masaru Ibuki, which claims that "after 3 it's too late" was the reason for the boom in early development in our country.

Psychologists and educators have identified critical periods that are most effective for the development of skills. It is good that parents help the child when he learns to walk, jump, run, but it is quite another matter if during this period he is seated at a desk to teach him how to read and draw.

Often, in pursuit of the development of intelligence, parents do not take care of the baby's health. There is nothing more useful for a child aged 1.5 to 4 years than long walks in the fresh air and at the same time intellectual development (change of seasons, contact with people).

In practice, the modern kid sees the street from the car window when he is transported from one early development studio to another. At the same time, he does not breathe fresh air, does not learn to interact with the outside world in a natural way, a serious deficit of motor activity is created. Modern psychologists have proven that the development of a child's brain at the age of 6 months to 3 years directly depends on how actively his gross motor skills are developed. By sacrificing physical development, parents harm the child's intellectual development.

Deficiency of movement can lead to medical problems such as constipation, obesity, and a decrease in the overall resistance of the body.

Parents who are actively involved in early education of a child often demand too high results from him and, naturally, he cannot cope with overwhelming tasks. The problem is how parents react to it. As a result, the child finds himself in a vicious circle: the teacher is dissatisfied in the section, the parents are dissatisfied at home. And the little man makes the only conclusion available to him that he is a failure and not worthy of love. Living in constant psycho-emotional stress will negatively affect the development and health of the child.

Most mums worry about the impact of the stress she went through during pregnancy on the development of her baby. But no one asks the question, how will stress affect the development of an already born little man? It is he who endangers all systems of the body, and especially negatively affects the development of the central nervous system and the endocrine system.

Do not forget about the daily routine. It is difficult to compare a busy schedule of busy parents and a few circles. As a result, the child eats and sleeps at the wrong time. Often, “better for the child” is substituted for “better for the parent”. It is much easier to take it to the development center than to walk with it in the fresh air in any weather for 2 hours. This extreme is becoming more common. As a pediatrician, mothers often come to me with complaints that the children are naughty, nervous, and do not sleep well. More than half of these children are stressed due to increased early development, when there is no time for games, communication with mom and dad.

Then such a mother will go to a neurologist to solve the problem. The specialist will probably prescribe drugs that only mask the problem, but the true cause will remain. Not every mother is able to protect the baby from the stress of the destruction of the family or the death of a loved one, but you can always reduce the rate of early development. The reason lies on the surface, but in practice it is precisely this that is ignored by the parents. Everyone has their own motivation. Someone in their hearts shouts “I will do everything so that my child does not grow up a failure!”, Someone is subject to fashion trends. In early childhood development, parents should remember to instill a love of learning before teaching a particular skill through grueling daily training. Remember, health is more important.

Identify and develop in time

In the bestseller Masaru Ibuki, it is written, in particular, that early development does not help bring up geniuses. The practice of upbringing according to any method confirms that the responsibility for how the child grows up and how much his abilities will be developed rests entirely with the educators. A child needs to learn any foreign language, first of all, for the development of his capabilities, and not in order to amuse his parents' pride or surprise everyone by entering a miracle garden, where training sessions practically do not stop.

Elena Mikhailovna Makarova, psychologist

A child is born the most unfit for life of all living organisms. But a small person has great opportunities. During the first years of life, a child learns to control his body well, interact with people, speak and comprehend the meaning of many phenomena.Close attention should be paid to the main developmental areas.

Motor development

The very first actions of the baby: coups, a smile, movements of arms and legs, the first steps usually cause a storm of delight among young parents. But they skip some important development stages. It is necessary for the baby to be able to move a lot, because long-term sitting in the stroller is unlikely to lead to good development. It is important not to miss the stage of crawling, because in parallel with movement during this period, spatial orientation develops, the possibility of friendly movements of arms and legs is strengthened, cognitive interest grows and attention develops. From a year to 3, the baby needs to regularly exercise in climbing, grabbing, jumping, running to form will and self-regulation, striving to achieve the goal, and these are qualities that will be very useful to him in the future.

Interaction with an adult

The development of relationships with adults takes a leading position in the development of the infant. Up to a year, the foundation of an emotional response is laid, which should lead to certain results: whether the baby will trust and cooperate with adults, the development of self-confidence and the main background of the mood. Therefore, nursery rhymes and songs, a joyful, warm development of a dialogue with mom will be important. During this period, it is simply necessary that a close adult be always nearby.

Cognitive development

The cognitive direction is loved by mothers. However, it would be more correct to study the wheel from a toy car, its spinning, that is, to comprehend the meaning and purpose of the wheel, than to name their color and shape. Indeed, in order to generalize and highlight a shape or color, a child needs to have practical experience that can only be gained by playing with a variety of toys. So, the most wrong thing in early development will be the anticipation of the intellectual development of the baby, that is, the premature study of colors, shapes, counting and letters.

Have fun with your little one, talk to him, run and climb, let him explore everything around him and maintain cognitive interest. Only in this case, early development will be the most harmonious and correct. And everything else will be formed quickly and without difficulty a little later.

Active mothers should be reminded of the recommendation of the famous doctor Komarovsky that any child development classes should not be at the expense of health. Evgeny Olegovich, a well-known pediatrician of the highest category, is convinced that the identification and development of children's abilities is necessary and useful, but in moderation and in accordance with the individuality of each child.

Any mother, constantly communicating with her child, is able to reveal his interest in drawing or mathematics, modeling or cooking. This can happen at a year and a half, or at three, or at five. Only "revealing" should not be:

violent; for the sake of fashionable trends; by virtue of the "herd" instinct; due to the fact that without knowledge of the Chinese language they will not be admitted to kindergarten.

It is clear that a child who does not know how to read and write in his native language is unlikely to achieve success, but knowledge of seven languages in itself does not make a person happy and successful. You can teach your kid different sciences or delve into chemistry indefinitely, but more knowledge does not mean better and does not guarantee indispensable professional success in the future.

The ideal situation is when the knowledge gained by a child from different sources is combined: from parents who are not deprived of intelligence and in early development centers from specialists who have knowledge that relatives lack.

Ekaterina Safronova, psychologist at the Foundation for Supporting Children in Difficult Life Situations

Early development of children is in trend. This "fashion" is experiencing a real peak in popularity. Almost every city has more than one network of such institutions. Some of these organizations offer special programs for children from 8 months old.No doubt, all parents want their children to develop harmoniously, but does fashion have a positive effect on how a child will grow up? A colorful description of the "author's development programs" only testifies to their existence, but does not testify to their uniqueness. If they are, then they have not been tested for effectiveness. Agree that normally any healthy child begins to roll over, walk and talk on his own; this does not require any "author's development programs" at all. Do not forget the fact that for every baby, the separation from the mother, a trip somewhere and communication with adults unknown to him will be a serious test. Children do not just endure the road, crowds of people, excess of attention. Do not forget about health - contact with sick children is possible. Of course, visiting such establishments is not at all cheap, so it is worth remembering the proverb and thinking "seven times" before paying for such a "pleasure." Many parents believe that the center will help with socialization. However, there is also a pitfall here: in the conditions of the lesson, the baby is not free, he is forced to complete the task and act according to the rules that the teacher dictates to him. Much better, a simple walk on the playground will affect the kid, where the child will have the opportunity to communicate with the same kids according to the scenarios that he himself comes up with.

If we talk about children's educational centers, where annotations to educational programs declare that by the age of 7 your child will be fluent in 3 languages, count up to a million in his head and, in principle, will be ready to defend his doctoral dissertation in nuclear physics, then all parents should remember one simple thing: no need to forcefully teach your baby to read and write. Ideally, the child himself, approaching school age, wants to learn this. And it will be much better if he learns the numbers at home with his mother, and not at the desk with an unfamiliar aunt. If you overdo it with teaching a child in preschool age, you risk the educational motivation of the future student. He will just get so tired of studying that by school he will be saturated with it and will not want to study further.

Parents want to see their kids developed and successful. In order for a child to speak two or three languages fluently, swim, draw pictures, play musical instruments at a high level, adults try their best, often forgetting that for this you just need to love and respect children, not forgetting that it is persons who are not parental property.

Early development should not turn into early learning, and parental vanity should not become the enemy of children.
