At the beginning of 2020, there were 866 men for every 1,000 women in the country. It is specified that the number of men exceeds the number of women only in the age category from 0 to 29 years old, where there are 1,050 men per 1,000 women. At an older age, the number of men per 1,000 women begins to decline, RT reports. Tamara Pletneva, head of the State Duma Committee on Family, Women and Children, reacted to this data. In an interview with the radio station "Moscow speaking" she stated that she did not have reliable information.
“Probably less. That women live longer? Probably, but this is inaccurate data, this is how we see around us that there are more grandmothers than grandfathers. Otherwise, I cannot say. I have no data on the quantity”.
Pletneva pointed out the need to equalize the salaries of women and men in Russia.
“Now I have a concern so that our generation will grow up, so that we are all safe and sound, so that women receive as much as men for their work. It is now well established that it is [salary difference - approx. GM], which is bad. Of course, it's bad if we work and a woman gets less for the same job. But this is not the case in all industries. I cannot say that a female deputy receives less than a male deputy, but there are industries, private companies that distribute funds in this way. This is what we need to fight against, and the government confirms that we have such a thing."
Earlier it was reported that the life expectancy of Russians this year has reached an all-time high. She was 73.4 years old. This is the highest figure in history, the press service of the Ministry of Health said. In the department, the growth is associated with a decrease in the mortality rate of the population: by 3.5% for men and 2.1% for women.
