S.-PETERSBURG, November 13 - RIA Novosti. A plate with information that a permanent monument to doctors who died from coronavirus will appear at this place was laid near the entrance of the Pavlov First St.Petersburg State Medical University, RIA Novosti reports.

"We must remember those doctors who fought against COVID-19 and honor their memory. Why was this place chosen for the monument? Doctors who are fighting this infection are received here and traditionally relatives wait for those who are treated in the first honey," he said at the laying ceremony Ivan Gromov, head of the Petrograd region.

According to him, the image of the monument, which will be installed at the intersection of Petrogradskaya Street and the embankment of the Karpovka River, has already been determined - it will be the figure of an angel by the St. Petersburg sculptor Roman Shustrov, who died of coronavirus in May. A QR code will be located next to the sign, which makes it possible to see the portraits of the dead doctors.

"This image of an angel resembles the souls of those people who died. We understand the installation time, this is a maximum of three months. Now we will move on to creating a 3D model of the image, and after casting, we will install it in this place," Gromov said.

University Rector Sergei Bagnenko added that now one of the university's clinics is working as a covid center.

"At the same time, we keep many buildings for the provision of medical care - surgery, neurosurgery and others. This place where the monument will be erected will be known to those, here an angel who preserves life has bowed down," added Bagnenko.

Earlier it was reported that the spontaneous memorial in memory of the doctors who died during the pandemic in St. Petersburg was dismantled on Malaya Sadovaya Street. Activists placed there portraits of doctors (more than a hundred in total), St. Petersburg residents left flowers and candles.
