Children are known to form a deep emotional bond with pets. That is why the death of a pet cannot but affect the psyche of the child - for most small owners of cats, dogs, hamsters and parrots, this event becomes traumatic.

Scientists conducted a study with the participation of 6,260 children under 7 years old and found out who suffers more from the loss of a pet - boys or girls. This is reported by the European Child & Adolescent Psychiatry magazine.

The trauma associated with the death of a pet can be felt for an average of 3 years in both boys and girls.

However, boys are more likely and more affected by pet deaths than girls.

Nevertheless, as scientists say, "it is better to love and lose than never to love at all."

It is noted that the results of the study were not influenced by additional factors, for example, such as social status, health status or the presence of traumatic events in the child's life earlier.
