On Monday, October 19, the Penza Region Civil Registry Office published data on what names parents gave their children in 2020.

For 9 months, from January to September, 7,350 babies were born in the region, with more boys than girls. In the first month of autumn, documents were issued for 901 children.
“The fashion for names is constantly changing. From time to time, the kids are sometimes called forgotten old ones, or they are given names in a foreign way,”the department noted.
According to tradition, Artem, as well as Matvey, Maxim and Ivan are in the top five popular male names. The girls have Victoria, followed by Polina, Sofia and Eva.
Of the rare and unusual names, such names should be noted: for boys - Arnold, Harry, Dobroslav, Eremey, Mercury, Oscar; for girls - Zakhara, Inna, Lyudmila, Rada, Tamara.
According to data for 8 months, it was reported that Borislav, Mercury, Moisey, Ostap, Spartak appeared in the region, as well as Alexandrina, Bozhena, Glafira, Rusalina, Justina.
Before that, children were registered with the names Adam, Luchezar, Naum and Fedor. For the fairer sex, names such as Adele, Lukeria, Nina, Esmeralda were chosen.
