In the Chelyabinsk region, more than three thousand people have suffered from tick bites, of which 915 are children. 17 South Urals residents were hospitalized with suspected tick-borne encephalitis. This was announced by Svetlana Luchinina, deputy head of the regional department of Rospotrebnadzor. The activity of ticks has increased several times. If from the beginning of the season to May 11, 1,685 people turned to hospitals, then from 11 to 18, 1379 victims were registered. Luchinina noted that last year there were practically the same indicators.
“More than 111 thousand people have been vaccinated against tick-borne encephalitis in the region, including 83.7 thousand children,” added a representative of the supervisory agency. - This year, at the expense of the regional budget, children of three to four years old are being vaccinated and preschool children vaccinated in 2017, as well as second grade students, are being vaccinated. At the expense of municipal budgets, immunization of schoolchildren and children of risk groups has been organized.
