Users of social networks are outraged by the presence of a picture of Joseph Stalin with a girl in one of the offices of the ombudsman for the rights of the child in the Yaroslavl region Mikhail Krupin; the ombudsman himself told RIA Novosti that this portrait is just one of a series of historical photos of state leaders with children who hang in his office.
On her Facebook page, assistant to the Yaroslavl Regional Duma deputy Yelena Bogdanova on Thursday posted a message illustrated by a photograph of Stalin with a Buryat girl on the wall, known as "Stalin and Mamlakat."
Social media users were outraged by this fact. The message was "reposted" by almost a thousand people. Those who commented on it were confused, first of all, by the history of the picture, according to some sources, is very ambiguous. According to these data, the girl in the arms of the leader is not at all a young Tajik cotton picker Mamlakat Nakhangova, whom Stalin allegedly awards for her successes, but the daughter of the People's Commissar of Agriculture of the Buryat-Mongol ASSR Gel Markizov. Gelia simply handed Stalin flowers, and he took her in his arms. Soon after this photo was taken, the girl's father was found to be a spy and shot, and her mother was exiled.
Mikhail Krupin himself explained to RIA Novosti that the picture with Stalin is only part of the idea of decorating the offices of his apparatus.
"Portraits of statesmen with children are hung, including in one of the offices - this is not my reception room - there is a portrait of Stalin. We cannot hang just photographs of modern children, because this requires parental permission, so we hung historical photographs, hung portraits, which were in the public domain, "the source said.
He noted - in particular, he has portraits of Lenin with children, as well as of Vladimir Putin.
"I believe that there are many more problems that are worth paying attention to, and not the portrait that hangs in the office," the agency's interlocutor summed up.
