The Saratov region is home to 96 children suffering from celiac disease, a genetic disease that results in gluten intolerance. Now families with such children will receive additional payments to provide special meals. The corresponding bill today, November 17, was discussed in the regional duma.
In a number of regions, families with children with celiac disease are entitled to monthly cash payments for the purchase of gluten-free products - from 800 to 1200 rubles. In the Saratov region, it was proposed to establish a payment in the amount of one thousand rubles.
The deputies from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation wondered if this benefit could be extended to adults with celiac disease - after all, with the onset of adulthood, the disease does not disappear, and the disease is relatively rare, and the budget will not introduce large expenditures.
“What are adults encouraged to do? Eat inappropriate cheap food and die slowly? - asked the deputy Alexander Anidalov.
“Adults can earn for themselves the necessary food,” said Natalia Guryeva, Deputy Minister - Chairperson of the Social Protection Committee of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the region.
The Communists' proposal was not supported by other MPs.
